Drop Data SQL Method
The dropData
method allows you to remove / drop data from your SQL database. You can use it to drop specific tables or even the entire database.
Syntax
db.dropData(dataname, tableName)
.then((result) => {
if (result.acknowledged) {
console.log(result.message); // Log success message
console.log(result.results); // Log the results
} else {
console.error(result.errorMessage); // Log error message
}
})
.catch((error) => {
console.error('An error occurred:', error); // Catch any unexpected errors
});
Parameters
dataname
: The name of your SQL database.tableName
(optional): The name of the specific table you want to drop. If not provided, all tables in the database will be dropped.
Example
- Drop a Specific Table:
Suppose you have a SQL database named your_database.db
and you want to drop the users
table. Here's how you would use the dropData
method:
const dataname = 'your_database.db'; // Specify the name of your database
const tableName = 'users'; // Specify the name of the table
db.dropData(dataname, tableName)
.then((result) => {
if (result.acknowledged) {
console.log(result.message); // Log success message
console.log(result.results); // Log the results
} else {
console.error(result.errorMessage); // Log error message
}
})
.catch((error) => {
console.error('An error occurred:', error); // Catch any unexpected errors
});
- Drop All Tables:
If you want to drop all tables in the database, omit the tableName
parameter:
const dataname = 'your_database.db'; // Specify the name of your database
db.dropData(dataname)
.then((result) => {
if (result.acknowledged) {
console.log(result.message); // Log success message
console.log(result.results); // Log the results
} else {
console.error(result.errorMessage); // Log error message
}
})
.catch((error) => {
console.error('An error occurred:', error); // Catch any unexpected errors
});
